Today’s topic is Flipping Used Cars on Ebay or Craigslist?
I would love to go over an Ebay deal that I’m doing right now. Then, we’ll go over Ebay and Craigslist later on. I’m sharing my screen now so we can proceed.
A couple of months ago, I listed my BMW for sale on Ebay, but it didn’t sell. I had a reserve at $17,500 but I wanted it for about $18,000 to $18,500. I don’t actually remember the exact figures.
I relisted it last week, but this time, I did it without a “Buy it now”. The last time, I listed it with a “Buy it now” for about $18,500 and never got a lot of bids until after 4-5 days. Then, got a lot more bids towards the end.
On the other hand, when I relisted it without a “Buy it now”, I already got 39 bids without 469 page views.
I’m in the car for about $13,500 and I’m already at $14,000 and my reserve is at $17,000. So, I have a lot more bids this time.
Check out my ad. You can see that I put a lot of very nice images of the BMW on the ad. It’s important to put a lot of nice pictures of the car because it really makes a big difference when selling the car.
If I get $17,500 for this, I’ll let it go. The last time, someone offered me the same amount but I turned it down. Sometimes, you’re at the point where you want to hold off for a little bit.
Ebay is a great place to sell cars that have more of an intrinsic value because you have a worldwide audience.
The 2000 Roadster BMW is not yet a classic, but it will become one. You can see how I laid the ad out here. Check out my text:
2000 Imola Red Z3 M Roadster – (with two-tone red/black leather interior). Better than the James Bond movie, “Golden Eye”. Why? Because this is a True M Edition with a whopping 240 HP and 0-60 MPH in a quick 5.2 seconds.
The Roadster they used in the James Bond movie was a basic Z3. I don’t know why they used the basic one when they could have used the M Edition. See, how the catchy the ad is?
I also added some stats and compared it to other cars:
It will give the Acura NSX a good run and probably beat it too. The 97 NSX comes in at a 5.7 seconds 0-60 MPH, a half a second slower than your Z3M.
I recommend all newbies to start with Craigslist, especially if you’re in the US because it’s easy to use and there’s a lot of deals on it. If you buy in the private party market, you can meet the seller, inspect the car and negotiate.
Whereas, you need to be more experienced if you get cars from auctions because you don’t know what you’re buying.
Question: Do you think you can sell on Ebay without any rating? [22:14]
Absolutely, I don’t see why you can’t. As long as you are answering their questions and communicating with the buyer. That will be a first rating. You can also ask for a positive review for others.
Question: Is an 89 Buick Riviera considered a classic? [24:50]
They say that if your car is 20 years old, then it’s considered a classic. If a car is 25 years old, then it is an antique.
