How To Flip Cars For Profit Questions and Answers

Hey! What’s goin’ on!

I sent an email to my subscribers not too long ago, asking them about their most burning questions about how to flip cars for profit. I was overwhelmed with the responses, I have over ten pages printed out and I’ll go through them with all of you today.

So let’s get started.

Here’s a question from Travis…

“Hey Tony, this is Travis. Thanks for keeping me posted. Man, I can’t wait to get started. Now the question I have is, what is the best way to sell the car very fast without putting it on Craigslist?”

The deal is, you have to put your cars on Craigslist. You have to do some type of advertising to sell your cars quickly. I’m not sure why you would think of not using Craigslist.

The only other thing I could think of is, putting your car somewhere on a road where there is busy traffic. Maybe a shopping lot or a corner somewhere with a big sign on it saying FOR SALE. And it has to be at a very competitive price when you’re doing something like that. You can also put the same sign on the back or side window, that is if the cops don’t hassle you. You can try to advertise that way while you’re driving around.

Then there’s word of mouth. You know, if you build up a base telling your family and friends that you buy and sell cars, people will know that you come across deals all the time. So that’s a good way to sell your cars because the word of mouth is a more trusted source of buyers. People know other people, they’ll let their friends know about you if they’re looking to buy cars and point you to the direction of interested buyers, so it’s a real quick way to flip cars that way. So it’ll be good for you if you get along all these people, friends, neighbors, etc.

But I really highly recommend Craigslist. It’s a good place to advertise. You get instant people who are already interested. They go to Craigslist because they’re already looking for cars. It’s a buyer’s market. So check out Craigslist.

Here’s another question, from Lawrence…

“Morning Tony, so you really want to know what’s on my mind when it comes to the car business? Well, I hope you have an answer for me. I’ve painted my entire minivan with a PPG paint (basecoat & clearcoat) last year spring, but now the paint has begun to peel and flake off especially on the roof and rear panels. Since I painted the van, I’ve used Wash & Wax Carwash soap only. Is PPG a worthwhile paint to use for a business? What’s the most durable auto paint you’ve used for your business? It’s a good thing that this is my van and not another car I’ve restored and sold, because that customer would be cussing me out right now and believing I ripped him off.”

Well, let me tell you…PPG is one of the best paints in the automotive industry. Hundreds of thousands of automotive shops across the world use them. PPG, just like the Deltron series are good quality paints.

I would assume that the reason why your clearcoat is chipping or peeling off is because your prep was wrong. You probably sanded a too fine sandpaper before you painted. I do auto body and paint. I’ve been doing it for over 17 years now.

So if you want to learn more about auto body and painting, check out www.LearnAutoBodyAndPaint.com.

So you would want to make sure that your sanded surface before painting was at least 400-grit sanded. If you used 1000, 1500, 2000-grit…those are too fine. There’s no tooth for your paint to stick on, that’s why it’s going to flake off.

Another possibility is, your clearcoat might have been too thin. You might not have put enough coat on it, you really need to lay two or three coats on it. And make sure you get something with UV protection, most clear coats come with it. Otherwise, the sun heat can cause for the clearcoat to flake, too.

That’s why it’s not the PPG paint. So it’s either incorrect prepping or not enough coats applied on it.

Finally, here’s one from Luke Webb…

“Hey Tony, thank you for your response. I really don’t have any Burning Questions about the car game…at least not yet. However, I believe what’s holding me back is the lack of capital, procrastination, fear, and having a bad habit of focusing on completion versus perfection. I know you mentioned before, something like, “Success love Speed”?”

Then he listed a few cars he has ready to sell very soon.

So, let’s talk about procrastination. I’m guilty of it. I think everyone is guilty of procrastination. What you have to inject daily in your mind is, when you have something to do and you really feel like you don’t want to do it…say in your mind, Do It Now. Do It Now. Do It Now.

And then, you Do It.

If you have to make a phone call, or write a paper or maybe post an ad, anything you need to get done…just Do It Now. And get it over with. Then do the next thing and just keep on doing the next one after that. When you start doing it and keeping at it, that’s when you start to build momentum.

What’s even better is, you develop the discipline and gain the confidence because you start to accomplish things now, you’re getting your goals done. Do it for a couple of days, then a week and then two weeks…by the third or fourth week, you’re going to be on a roll! You will start to see results and you’re going to start to feel good about yourself.

Personally, I think that’s the best way to do it. That’s what I’ve been doing and it works really well for me. Just Do It Now and get it over with. Just keep on moving, keep on rolling, alright.

Fear and procrastination are kind of the same things. It stops you from taking action. What is fear anyway? It’s just a shadow ghost over your shoulder. You have to get rid of it as much as you can.

A good way to lessen fear is to think of what the worst thing that could happen…so yeah, you could lose all your money, you could go broke. But you can always get back up. There’s always a sun shining the next day. 🙂

So there you go, think about the possible worst case scenario, when you have it figured out, you’ll realize that it really isn’t that bad. There’s always something you can do to get out of that bad situation.

Also, fear is the common trait among  unsuccessful people. Try talking to some successful people out there and you’ll find out for yourself that they are fearless. That’s why they are able to do things. They make things happen.

Don’t be afraid. Do things. And get things done.

About the bad habit of focusing on completion…I used to have this habit where I would buy cars and do things that really didn’t need to be done in order to sell it. I used to think that adding things like “new spark plugs”, “new tires”, “new paint”, etc. on the ad will boost interest amongst prospect buyers. But in actuality, some of those things can hurt your ad. Because people might question why all those new things and tune-up has to be done on the car. You don’t want it to be too obvious. Bottomline is, it can hurt you when you do too many things to a car like that.

So try not to be too perfect. Just aim for good enough. Get done with it and get sold.

You don’t have to go crazy. If it really needs something new done to it, then do it and then sell it. If it doesn’t need a tune-up, you don’t have to do it. Like if it needs a spark plug because it’s running on 3 cylinders or something, then put a plug on it and get it running right….oil looks really bad, so drain the oil and put new oil in it, you don’t have to change the filter. But if it really feels good for you inside to put a new filter in it, do it.

Just always follow the Speed of Implementation, meaning to say…when you get a good idea, don’t wait too long. Instead take action and implement it immediately.

“In conclusion, my target goal is to receive $9,000-$12,000 for all 3 cars. I’m really expecting to receive $10,500.”

It’s also good that you have realistic expectations on how much you can earn and roll for more profits.
