Should You Fix Cars That You Buy And Sell for Profit?

Here’s a burning question, “Should you fix cars that you buy and sell for profit?”

In this video, I’m going to show you a deal that my godfather picked up.  It’s a ’98 Dodge Ram 2500 V8 Magnum.  He got this for a thousand dollars from the original owner. It has a clear title and with 117,000 miles on it.

We’ve spruced it up but it still has a lot of work to do.  It had a damage on the front.  There was an area of the hood that was pushed in.  We pulled it out, painted the hood and the two front fenders, which also had a dent we took out.

We’re going to do a plasti-dip paint job and paint the whole grill black then feather it out. We’re going to take out the ram and show it.  It’s going to look cool.

We’ll also do headlight tactics, so the headlight will look brand new.  This will be an extra twenty minutes of work.  But we just want to make the front look good.

There was also a dent on the bed. So, I fixed the dent and painted it.  We’ll also buff out the rest of the doors to make it blend well.

There’s a little color change because you can’t make an 18-year old paint look brand new unless you blend it, which is extra work that you don’t need to do.

It took us about a day to do all the body work and another half a day to paint it.  We didn’t do a crazy paint job because it’s going to be a car that we’re going to buy and sell for profit.

There were chips and dents all over but we didn’t fix and paint everything because it’s just not worth it.  We’re going to buff it out, wash and detail it.  We’ll clean the rims which will take another two hours to do.

This is a just thousand dollar truck that we’ll spruce and clean up to make it look good.

My godfather should be able to get five to six thousand dollars for this without a problem.  And, he just got it for a thousand dollars.

It’s not necessary to be skilled in auto body work because others just go to auto body shops and pay to get the cars repaired.  Especially those who go to the auctions and buy a couple of cars.

But, if you can do some of those repairs yourself, you can save the money to pay for the mechanic and make more profit.

Another thing you need to remember is that you don’t need to put a lot of work on every car you buy and sell for profit.  Some cars you buy just need a detail.

I’ve done many deals where all it needed was a wash, wax and detail.  I had two to three thousand dollars profit on it.

My godfather is 76 years old and he’s buying and selling cars for profit.  I have senior citizens doing this after going through the F1 AutoCashFormula course.
